When Hassainar Chunghath landed in Dubai in the late 1980s, he did not imagine he would one day build one of the region’s most respected ICT groups. Today, as the founder of Wavednet Group, he stands as a testament to how vision, discipline, and gratitude can shape an exceptional entrepreneurial journey.
From Small-Town Kerala to Dubai
Hassainar hails from Tirur in the South Indian state of Kerala, where business was part of daily life from an early age. Growing up in a large family of 11 siblings, he watched his elder brother Mohammed Kutty work tirelessly in the public health sector before moving to the UAE. Inspired by that courage, Hassainar followed in 1988, arriving in Dubai with modest resources but big ambitions.
His first venture in the UAE was far from the IT world. Together with his brother, he helped run a small supermarket. When the market struggled, they pivoted to a catering business serving labour camps in Al Quoz. The work was demanding and, despite their efforts, mounting losses forced them to wind up the operation. That setback, however, opened the door to a completely new field.
A Chance Entry into IT
At a time when Dubai was just beginning to embrace information technology, Hassainar had an opportunity to take over a modest IT shop in Bur Dubai. What began as a practical decision to survive quickly became his lifelong passion. He immersed himself in understanding how the IT field worked, how products moved, what customers needed, and how service could be improved.
With perseverance and a deep commitment to learning, he became one of the first Keralites to start an IT shop in Bur Dubai. As regulations evolved and the business environment matured, he diligently ensured that the company complied with all formal registration requirements in the UAE. As the country’s ICT sector flourished, so did his business.
Building Wavednet Group Brick by Brick
Over the years, that single shop grew into Wavednet Group, a diversified IT and ICT enterprise with multiple showrooms and specialist entities. The group’s portfolio includes companies such as Wavednet Computers LLC, Seven Emirates Computers, Al Refae Star Computer Trading LLC, Chungath Computers LLC, and Witech Trading LLC, each with its own branch network and customer base.
From its base in Bur Dubai, the group has expanded its reach far beyond the UAE’s borders. Today, Wavednet deals in a wide range of ICT products and solutions, exporting to dozens of countries and serving clients across sectors. The focus has always been clear: deliver dependable products, back them with honest advice, and build relationships that last.
A Loyal Team Behind the Success
Hassainar is deeply involved in the day-to-day running of the business and attributes much of the company’s growth to the loyalty of his team. Many employees have been with him for decades, a rare achievement in a fast-moving industry. Their long tenure speaks volumes about the trust, respect, and stability they enjoy within the organisation.
He believes a business can only grow when the people behind it feel valued. That belief guides his leadership approach: listening closely, leading by example, and creating an environment where people can build long-term careers rather than just hold jobs.
Business Philosophy and Values
For Hassainar, profit is not the only motive. He sees his company as a platform to support families and communities by providing meaningful employment and financial stability. He is clear that every business decision must balance commercial sense with responsibility and fairness.
His personal work ethic is built around focus and sincerity. He prefers to concentrate on one task at a time, giving it his full attention, and he stays closely involved in every important aspect of the business. Honesty in dealings, transparency with customers, and respect for commitments form the backbone of Wavednet’s culture.
When advising young entrepreneurs, his message is simple:
-
Be honest with the people you work with.
-
Never cheat customers, even when shortcuts look tempting.
-
Do not take advantage of someone’s trust.
He believes that if one consistently follows these principles, opportunities will open and success will follow.
Gratitude to the UAE
Hassainar often speaks about his gratitude to the UAE and its rulers. He credits the country’s leadership for creating an environment where people from around the world can build businesses on an equal footing. In his view, the UAE’s clear laws, stability, and openness to new investors have been crucial to his growth story.
Receiving a 10‑year Golden Visa is a milestone he treasures, and he openly expresses his admiration for the nation’s leadership. One of his remaining dreams is to personally meet His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to thank him for the opportunities this country has provided.
A Family That Keeps Him Grounded
Behind the entrepreneur is a close-knit, picture-perfect family that keeps him grounded. Hassainar is married to Sheejabi Hassainar, and the couple is blessed with two daughters and a son. His eldest daughter, Dilshad Shirin, is a chartered accountant, while his second daughter, Shirin Shahana, is a doctor. His son, ShahinnMohammed, is pursuing his education with aspirations to follow his own professional path.
Family values—discipline, humility, and mutual support—inform how he runs his business. Just as he invests in the future of his children, he invests in the future of his company, his employees, and the wider community.
Looking Ahead
From a small-town upbringing in Kerala to building a respected ICT group in Dubai, Hassainar Chunghath’s journey reflects what is possible when resilience meets the right opportunities. Wavednet Group continues to grow its presence in the UAE and abroad, guided by the same principles that shaped its early years: hard work, integrity, and a deep appreciation for the country that made it all possible.
For Wavednet, the story is far from over. With a loyal team, a strong value system, and an ever-evolving technology landscape, the next chapter promises to be even more exciting than the last.
